We moved in that Christmas, and The Roost Farm Company was born. We have always been nature enthusiasts and animal lovers, but this new place gave us the opportunity to fully explore those passions. Our foster cats became a permanent part of the family. We adopted a dog from the land’s previous owners. We bought a horse, and a trailer – and a tractor. We brought home 6 chickens, which turned into 12, which turned into 40, then 80, and watched as our small garden blossomed into a full blown greenhouse tunnel. We knew the cracked clay and overgrazed fields would take a lot of nurturing to support any sort of crops, but we were willing to try. This rehabilitation project dragged us headfirst into the world of regenerative farming. Horrified to learn how destructive the food we eat was to both our planet and our health, we decided to fully embrace sustainable agriculture. With hundreds of hours of research down, and many more to go, we now hope to share both our passion and our knowledge with as many people as we can.
